Biography

Félix Rubio is a Madrid-based Spanish painter known for his philosophical approach to image-making and his deliberate departure from strict realism. His work explores the emotional and symbolic layers beneath everyday scenes, transforming the ordinary into something introspective, atmospheric, and quietly surreal.

Influenced by both classical and modern sensibilities, Rubio often draws from artists like Sorolla, Lucian Freud, and Egon Schiele to build a visual language that is raw, luminous, and deeply human. His paintings focus on figures, intimate spaces, and suspended moments that reveal tension, vulnerability, and the inner worlds we carry within.

Through expressive brushwork, nuanced color, and thoughtful composition, Rubio creates images that feel both immediate and timeless. His goal is not to reproduce reality, but to interpret it—offering the viewer a threshold into states of quiet emotion, memory, and reflection.
